Light duty trucks got a new front end with integral park/head lights, a bright metal lower grill outline molding, and a new paint scheme for the grill.  The 1979 grill was slightly narrower top to bottom, but of the same basic design as the previous years style.  Catalytic converter now added to trucks up to  8,500 gross vehicle weight (GVW).
